What causes this

The invitation carried a role outside the set an organization may hand out. Roles are validated against a whitelist rather than passed through to the database, so a typo and a privilege escalation attempt fail the same readable way.

How to fix it

Use developer or billing. Ownership is transferred by an existing owner, never granted by an invitation.
